Which floor care products can I use?

In order to increase resistance to soil and marks, and to simplify routine cleaning, protecting the floor with a floor finish such as Dr. Schutz Floor Sealer Matt is necessary for commercial applications. For residential applications the use of a polymer sealer (Dr. Schutz Secura Mat Hard Sealer) or Dr. Schutz Floor Sealer Matt is recommended.

My floor is damaged at a certain point. What can I do?

My floor is damaged at a certain point. What can I do?

If the damage only affects the upper layer, a new care treatment may help. If the damage is deeper, single planks and tiles can be replaced. However the substitution requires special tools and knowledge, so please contact your floor installer to adopt appropriate measures after the assessment.

What about slip resistance?

What about slip resistance?

All products in our collections have at least the anti-slip grade R9, most of them R10. Please note that a raised anti-slip grade may only be required in certain commercial areas where floors come into contact with slippery materials and where, therefore, a risk of slippage exists.

Are PVC floor coverings harmful to health, especially for children?

Are PVC floor coverings harmful to health, especially for children?

Our floor coverings are tested for hazardous substances and emissions (see also "Interior Climate") and show levels well within the legal limits. In addition, our production facilities have ISO 9001 and 14001 certification. This involves, for example, diligent use of all resources in terms of sustainable value orientation, protection of water and air quality, and reduction of waste throughout production. The use of our floor coverings isn't harmful to health.

What are phthalate/plasticisers and are they present in your floor coverings?

What are phthalate/plasticisers and are they present in your floor coverings?

PVC starts off as a hard plastic that can be made softer and more flexible by adding plasticisers. "Phthalates" are the most widely used ones. For decades, they have been the subject of scientific studies carried out to ascertain any detrimental effects on human health and on the environment. All phthalates are biodegradable and do not collect in humans or animals. PROJECT FLOORS has voluntarily refrained from using phthalate-containing softening agents in the production of all of its floor coverings since 2013. Click on the menu item "Sustainability" and find out more on the "Plasticizer" page.

Are PVC floor coverings acceptable from a strictly environmental point of view?

Are PVC floor coverings acceptable from a strictly environmental point of view?

With 43% oil, PVC consists largely of renewable resources. 57% is chlorine, produced from common salt, which is available in practically unlimited quantities. The manufacture of our floor coverings consumes much less energy than that of many related products. Long life cycles and the low maintenance in daily cleaning also contribute to the positive balance of energy present during production. (Source: FEB)

How are the floor coverings processed?

How are the floor coverings processed?

PROJECT FLOORS design floor coverings are no do-it-yourself products from the hardware store. For an optimal result, substrate preparation and correct adhesion are the decisive factors. Depending on the consistency of the substrate, the use of a levelling compound (filler) can be necessary to achieve a reasonably flat surface. PROJECT FLOORS coverings don't employ a click system or have to be welded, but rather fully adhered to the substrate. This results in not only an improved look (as the tiles cannot move, unwanted gaps are avoided), but also the capacity to replace single elements. Please consult an expert. An existing covering of tiles, for example, may not have to be removed. We will be happy to put you in touch with our partners.

Why do you recommend an initial care treatment despite the PU coating applied in the factory?

Why do you recommend an initial care treatment despite the PU coating applied in the factory?

The PU coating applied in the factory is no substitute for an initial care treatment after installation. It merely provides surface protection during installation and for a short time afterwards. Because the PU coating applied in the factory is thinner than the protective layer, the initial care treatment is advised particularly in commercial applications to avoid cause for complaint. In addition, the individual use can be taken into account if an appropriate additive is used at the initial care treatment (for example to prevent discolouration in hair salons and medical practices). For expert advice please use our contact form or contact our applications engineer Rainer Mees.

An additional seal to create a protective layer can also be applied in private living areas. It also further improves the characteristics with regard to ease of cleaning and dirt adherence. Just talk to your floor covering specialist to discuss the options for private use. We are naturally also happy to answer any questions you may have.

Please note: We advise against an initial care treatment if the subsurface must not be damaged, as the coating residue may penetrate through the joints and the edges to the subsurface.
