Would you like a customised design? Then a laying pattern is probably just the right solution for you. Small boards in a customised format can create a classic herringbone pattern, for example. PROJECT FLOORS floorings offer you numerous options. There are no limits to your ideas with different laying patterns, the combination of different textures and the use of inlays.

Design floorings: top performers in cleaning and hygiene

PROJECT FLOORS design floorings can be easily cleaned to an optimum hygiene standard. As a synthetic product, the floors are resistant to water and do not need special, careful treatment during daily cleaning. This makes it easier to clean the floor after a successful evening in your restaurant and allows hotel guests to feel comfortable as they walk around barefoot in their room. Allergy sufferers also appreciate the fact that dust, pollen and other irritants cannot become trapped in the flooring.

A look to create visual impact

Since PROJECT FLOORS design floorings are resistant to water, you can lay the same texture throughout main areas and into washrooms or bathrooms. This creates a high-grade, standardised appearance with an extensive visual impact.  It also removes the need to compensate the height difference between individual areas, making it easier to lay floors and eliminate unnecessary trip hazards.

Do you want renovate a room between guests? No problem with the non-glued LOOSE-LAY COLLECTION. These textures are used whenever a quick change is required or the subsurface needs to be restored at a later date without leaving any residues behind. PROJECT FLOORS offers you design floorings with five wear layers and suitable exposure levels, perfectly matched to your building's requirements and structural conditions. The textures from the floors@home collection with a wear layer of 0.3 mm are suitable for less used areas, such as hotel rooms. What are phthalates and plasticisers? Are they contained in your design floorings?

What are phthalates and plasticisers? Are they contained in your design floorings?

PVC starts off as a hard plastic which must be made soft and flexible before it can be laid as flooring. The chemicals which make PVC softer, more flexible and ready for use in flooring are called plasticisers. Phthalates (pronounced fa-lates) are the plasticisers most commonly used in PVC flooring production. Although there is no conclusive proof to date despite a plethora of scientific studies, phthalates are suspected to have an adverse effect on the human body and the environment.

PROJECT FLOORS stopped using phthalate plasticisers voluntarily back in early 2013. One alternative used is Hexamoll® DINCH®, which BASF developed for applications with close human contact, such as toys, food packaging or medical products. You can find more information on this topic on the "Plasticisers" page, found under "Sustainability" in the main menu.

Are design floorings harmful to health?

Are design floorings harmful to health?

Our design floorings are tested for harmful substances such as heavy metals and emissions on a regular basis (also see "Interior climate" in main menu). Findings show levels which are far below the permitted limits established under law. Our production plant is also certified to ISO 9001 and 14001, which means that no recycled plastics from unknown sources are used in manufacturing; only granulates with fully traceable ingredients are used. Using our floorings should therefore not be regarded as harmful to health in any way whatsoever.

Are design floorings suitable for moisture-prone rooms?

Are design floorings suitable for moisture-prone rooms?

Our design flooring solutions can be used in damp locations without any problems since the floorings do not swell or crack thanks to their resistance to moisture. The design flooring must be glued across its whole surface. Loose floors or click-lock floorings are not water-tight, so moisture can seep into the subsurface.

How environmentally friendly are PROJECT FLOORS design floorings?

How environmentally friendly are PROJECT FLOORS design floorings?

With just 43% consisting of petroleum, only a small part of PVC contains non-renewable resources. 57% of PVC’s mass is chlorine, which is obtained from sodium chloride and is available in great quantities. The chlorine in a PVC molecule is contained in a chemical compound which is as stable as the compound found in table salt. Manufactured in energy-efficient processes, it requires significantly less energy than many alternative products. Its long life cycle and low maintenance also help to achieve a good overall balance for the energy used to manufacture and use PVC floorings. (Source: FEB)

Why do you recommend a pre-treatment even though a PU coating was applied in the factory?

Why do you recommend a pre-treatment even though a PU coating was applied in the factory?

The factory-applied PU coating is no substitute for pre-treatment after the floor is laid; it merely serves as protection during the construction stage. Since the PU finish applied in the factory is much thinner than a protective layer added at a later stage, a pre-treatment is strongly advised, particularly on commercial premises, to prevent any complaints at a later point in time. Moreover, suitable additives can be mixed into the pre-treatment to match the particular use of the premises – to prevent discolouration in hairdressers' or medical practices, for example. Please use our contact form or contact our Application Engineering Department for advice on which treatment is best in your case.

An additional sealant can also be applied in private residences to provide what is known as a sacrificial layer. This also improves the flooring properties even further with regard to ease of cleaning and dirt adhesion. Simply talk to your floor fitting specialist about which options are best for your home. Obviously, we'll also gladly answer any questions that you may have.

Do you have any more questions? We will be pleased to advise you.
